Interior Design Tips – Creating a Mood Board

Posted on 19th Apr 2010 @ 4:59 PM

If your home lacks personality, by simply adding some carefully chosen Wall Art,
you can actually make quite an impact. Wall Art is a great way of tying a room
together by accentuating colour and style. Before you go and purchase anything,
try to get inspiration by looking at trends and styles in magazines, and interior
design books.

Create a Mood-board
Then create a mood-board, which is a collage of different materials like photos,
textures, themes, furniture, fabric or paint samples etc that captures the mood
or feel of the space you would like to create. Think about how you will use the
room and how you would like it to feel. For instance do you want a 'quiet retreat'
or a lively 'playroom' for the kids? Collect your favourite images and colours and
arrange them on a large board. Remove anything that does not suite the theme.

Mood-boards are a great way of seeing how the different elements will work together
holistically and eliminating elements that clash. The best part is you get to develop

your design concept with out wasting money.

There are no rules so get creative and have fun..
